(PLEASE NOTE: if you intend to participate in Connections for only some days of the 6-day program, please click here to register)

The Connections program continues its tradition of combining intergenerational work projects with lively discussion, meditation, community campfires and play time. The intention of this program is to promote stewardship of the camp’s facilities, and to nurture the relationships that connect us all. These relations, and commitment to Indralaya develop through shared experience of all kinds, including our shared labor, a centerpiece of Connections.

2025 Theme: A conversation about the history, present, and future of Indralaya

Program facilitators include Rolf Eriksen, Projects Lead;  Marilynne Gardner, projects support; David Toren discussion lead, Andrie Levey-Bates and Michaela Toren children’s program coordinators.
As we approach the 100th anniversary of Indralaya it is timely to reflect on what has made this place so unique and valued, how we are doing today with regard to preserving that, and how best to venture into the future.
This program will foster conversation to consider how we have done as a theosophical community, what it means to be theosophical, and what it means to be a community.  We may also discuss what it takes to preserve the physical existence of camp: how we have in the past and might in the future provide the financial, physical, and human resources we need, from cabins and facilities to folks from cooks and builders to organizers and facilitators who have the necessary skills to keep the place humming.  We will also ask  what the ‘spirit’ of Indralaya is – that special essence of camp which all, old and new,  experience, and which has brought people over a hundred years. How might this be nourished and maintained for another hundred years?

SCHEDULE

A typical Connections day includes project work (about 3.5 hours), daily discussion (1.5 hours), free time, and after dinner volleyball and campfire. We usually reserve one day for a camp outing.

On Sunday, August 4, the in-person Annual Members Meeting will be at 7:30 pm.

PROJECTS

Connections’ participants will undertake a variety of projects from construction to forest cleaning to organization to handiwork. Participants of all ages and proficiency levels are invited to find a project to fit your interests and abilities – or help you develop new skills. The work is structured to engage people of all skills and interests. Projects will be led by Rolf Eriksen with Marilynne Gardner as projects assist.

There will also be opportunities to volunteer in leading or supervising activities for children, work in the garden and kitchen, on the trails and elsewhere.

Most campers participate in these activities and therefore qualify for the daily staff rate. If you plan to contribute, please mark ‘daily staff’ when you register.

Please also come prepared to share your musical, dance, literary, theatric and comedic talents at evening campfire.

FAMILIES

We will also be offering more structured children’s programming coordinated by Andrie Levey-Bates and Michaela Toren.

PROGRAM DISCUSSION

David Toren will be our conversation leader to ponder the past, present and future of Indralaya.
