July 16 Wednesday Dinner through July 21 Monday Breakfast
“We must be the change we want to see in the world.” ~ Gandhi
In these times of intensity and complexity, danger, and opportunity, it is more important than ever that we learn and practice the arts and sciences of cultivating peace and deep resilience within ourselves and for our world. In recognition of this need, Joel & Michelle Levey return to Indralaya to guide this contemplative retreat for awakening to the power of peace and increasing our capacity to be the change we want to see in our world.
In a supportive environment guided by experienced teachers, along with a community of kindred spirits and the inspiring forces of Nature amid the exquisite natural beauty of Indralaya, this special program of meditation, inspiration, and celebration offers a rare opportunity to delve into timeless wisdom teachings and engage in profound practices for awakening natural awareness, embodying peace, and deepening in wisdom and wholehearted compassion. We will share a rich blend of deep reflection and deep connection with our multidimensional selves and the natural world in an exploration that is so relevant for enhancing our capacity to resiliently thrive and continually renew ourselves in these profound times.
Our days together will weave a balance of inspiring wisdom teachings, mindful dialogue, deep reflection, contemplative silence, and a variety of meditations for cultivating inner peace, insight, resourcefulness, and well-being (including mindfulness, tonglen, gratitude, embodied awareness and movement, lovingkindness, and compassion), together with ample free time opportunities for community sharing and mindful adventures exploring the “holy book of nature.” Both experienced and novice meditators are warmly welcome and will find profoundly value and inspiring in this unique retreat.
Indralaya was founded upon the principles of “… promoting harmony among all peoples, and the comparative study of religion, philosophy, and science, so that we may better understand ourselves and our place in the universe.” In this spirit of honoring life and integrating the inner and the outer, this retreat will bring together wisdom teachings from many traditions, insights from contemporary brain science research, and the timeless themes of peace-making and non-violence.
Our days together will include opportunities for deep personal reflection, dialogue, immersion in natural beauty and splendor, inspiring talks and group discussion, silence and alone times, living in a sanctuary of inspiring and pristine natural beauty, and supportive community. Our practice and inquiry will reflect a balance of silence and heartfelt sharing, time alone and time together in nature, interactive exercises, inspiring talks, dialogue, stillness and embodied meditations. There will also be open time for hiking, personal reflection, reading, resting, swimming.
